Why it is important to cry:

Why is it important to cry?

Tears: More than just a mix of chemicals.

We, human beings, cry, for a variety of reasons. Some tears are caused by physical irritants, such as dust or onions. Others are caused by emotional reactions like sadness, joy or anger.

However, tears are more than just a mix of electrolytes, proteins and lipids. They play an important role in our physical, emotional and psychological well-being

Crying is a healthy and natural response to a range of emotions, but it is often misunderstood and stigmatized. Some people believe that crying is a sign of weakness, while others believe that it is only appropriate to cry in certain situations.

However, crying is anything but a weakness. In fact, it is a strength. Crying is healthy. The major benefit is it releases stress. It heals. It releases pain and improves mood

Not to mention how important it is for the eyes; it helps to keep the eyes clean and moist. Tears contain antibacterial and antiviral properties that help to protect the eyes from infection.

When we cry, our body releases endorphins. Crying is not only psychologically beneficial, but it also has a positive social impact. Crying can help us to connect with others on a deeper level.

When we are crying, we are showing our vulnerability and allowing others to show our true emotions which in turn helps to build trust and intimacy in relationships.

Ferber Method:

The Ferber method, or Ferberization, is a technique invented by Richard Ferber to solve infant sleep problems. It involves “sleep-training” children to self-soothe by allowing the child to cry for a predetermined amount of time at intervals before receiving external comfort.

The reason why I have included the Ferber method here, is to emphasize the importance of crying. There is a whole technique that has been invented where crying actually helps babies to fall asleep.

Importance of crying:

Since I have established the importance and benefits of crying, I thought to pay a personal homage to tears, which I call The Godsend Beads!

The poem below, written by me, is my personal tribute to TEARS.

(I am not a poet. I write, once in a while)

"Ode to Tears"

TEARS-
Are they for joy or are they for sorrow?
Are they for contentment or are they for regret.
Are they pearls of wisdom or just drops of saline water?
Are they meaningless or are they meaningful?
Are they futile or do they carry weight?
Do they reveal everything, or do they hide something?
Do they relieve the pain or intensify it?
Do they raise questions or answer them?
Do they clear our eyes or fog them more?
Do they make us strong or do they render us weak.

HOWEVER-

TEARS-
They are powerful enough to find their way.
They are strong enough to melt our hearts.
They are stubborn, they just flow.
They demand a tight hug.
They demand a warm embrace.
They wet our eyes.
They wet our cheeks.
They wet our fingertips.

They wet the tissue.
They wet the pillow.
But surely, they dry out our chests hollow.

TEARS-Salute and Love to you!

It is important to remember that crying is a normal and healthy human emotion. It is okay to cry. It is not a sign of weakness or shame. If you feel like crying, let the tears flow, it will help you to feel better.

It is also our collective responsibility to be kind to one another and to create a space where people feel safe to be vulnerable and express their emotions freely.

P.S. No forgiveness and mercy for crocodile tears.

Stress less and take care!
